Backward Thinking[edit | edit source]

Social Studies teachers frequently encounter conceptual blocks in some students regarding things that are not exactly what they appear on the face. Like teaching the word "irony," in English, some otherwise simple Social Studies concepts can be difficult for students to get around. Here are some concepts that drive some kids nuts:
