Definition

• in history, attributing to an historical period a characteristic or concept that did not exist during that historical time
  • ex. Viking horned helmets
    • horned helmets on Vikings was an invention of a German director of a Wagnerian opera, who staged the Vikings depicted in it wearing horned helmets
      • Wagner wrote the "Ring cycle" operas basd on his romnanticism of Viking or Nordic mythology
