Prefix

Prefix is a word part that precedes a word root in order to create a new word

• prefixes are indciated with a dash, as in in-, un-
  • ex. undo = un- (prefix) + do (root)
• prefix =
  • pre- + fix
    • pre- = before
    • fix = fastened, in position
      • from PIE root *dheigw- "to stick, fix
